About Academy
In 1984 – after 10 amazing years at the National Theatre working with some of the greatest actors of the 20th Century and an incredible array of designers and directors, Adrian decided to branch out and form what is now known as Academy Costumes.
Adrian’s theatre background formed the basis of Academy but it wasn’t long before the company branched out into TV, film, music and all areas of the entertainment industry.
After setting up Academy initially as a making company, the rentals side soon followed and has amassed a vast amount of original and reproduction costumes and accessories from the 1900s to 1980s. Amongst our collection is a great range of special items including showgirls, astronauts and wedding dresses.
